Chaman

I'm really sorry for not posting anything for several days… but, I'm back again :)

This is the representation of a Chaman (Wizard), that was the mystical doctor of the old cultures that inhabited old Peru. This was a very special person for the governors and citizens. Some days ago. some tour operators displayed their tourist supply in a small exhibition, and this Chaman was in Moche.

Esta es la representación de un Chamán, quien era el médico naturista y místico de las culturas antiguas que habitaron el antiguo Perú. Era una persona muy especial para los gobernantes y ciudadanos. Hace algunos dias, varios tour operadores presentaron su oferta turística en una pequeña exposición. Este Chamán está en Moche.

Being in a house left in the beach can be exciting, but to listen to old histories of the fishermen who inhabited it is unforgettable.

Estar en una casa abandonada en la playa puede ser emocionante, pero escuchar antiguas historias de los pescadores que la habitaron es inolvidable.

Finding crabs

Yesterday, I visited to some fishermen in Magdalena de Cao to film their way to fish and to capture crabs as the old people of the Moche culture. It was a very interesting experience, tomorrow I will be all the day at "El Brujo" (it could be translated like "The Wizard").

Ayer, yo acompañé a algunos pescadores de Magdalena para registrar su manera de pescar y capturar cangrejos tal como lo hacían los antiguos pobladores de la cultura Moche. Fue una experiencia muy interesante, mañana estaré todo el día en El Brujo.

Cleaning the house

Trujillo will be host of the IV International Seminary “Democratization, Decentralization and Agreement in the Local Governments” which is organized by the Unión Iberoamericana de Municipalistas (UIM). People from here is preparing everything for this event, as for example: a complete cleaning of the Main Square.

Trujillo será sede del VI Seminario Internacional “Democratización, Descentralización y Concertación en los Gobiernos Locales” que organiza la Unión Iberoamericana de Municipalistas (UIM). Se vienen haciendo todos los preparativos, entre ellos la limpieza completa de la Plaza de Armas.

Anniversary :)

This time, it's a personal post, the last Friday was the anniversary of the company where I work, we celebrated 20 years and we invited to the "Orquesta de Barro" (Mud Orchestra), a group of children and adolescents who comprise of a social project…

Ceviche de chocho

The CHOCHO is a "frejol" (like a bean) that helps to lessen the bad triglyceride, since along time ago people prepares it with onion, lemon and some of red pepper, and it's sold at the streets mainly, it's called "ceviche de chocho".

El chocho es un frejol que ayuda a aminorar los triglicéridos malos, desde hace mucho tiempo atrás la gente lo prepara con cebolla, limón y algo de ají, y se vende al paso en las calles, es conocido como "ceviche de chocho".

Flying

This sculpture represents Mercury, God of the commerce, it's located in a small square where was used to exchange national foreign currency.

Esta escultura representa a Mercurio, dios del comercio, está ubicada en una pequeña plaza donde se solía cambiar moneda nacional a moneda extranjera.

Cleaning

Two workers were cleaning these windows during the "nap time" (many stores at downtown close since 1pm to 4pm and many people go home to have lunch). When I took this pic, they smiled and covered their faces, maybe they're shy ^^.

Dos trabajadores estuvieron limpiando estas ventanas durante "la hora de descanso" (muchas tiendas cierran desde la 1pm hasta las 4pm y muchos van a casa a almorzar). Cuando tomé esta foto, ellos se sonrieron y ocultaron sus rostros, tal vez son tímidos ^^.

and... Chan Chan #3

Last post about Chan Chan, if you come to Trujillo, you must visit it ^^ . Ancient people of Chimu Culture used this well for special ceremonies dedicated to the water and fertility cult , it's called "Huachaque".
Este es el último post dedicado a Chan Chan, si vienen a Trujillo tienen que visitarlo obligatoriamente ^^. Este pozo fue usado por los antiguos pobladores de la cultura Chimú para ceremonias especiales dedicadas al agua y a la fertilidad, es llamado también Huachaque.

Chan Chan #2

Rains and earthquakes have destroyed the walls for many years; however, we can still see their designs in murals in the Tshudi Palace, the only one of the ten citadels that survived.

las lluvias y los terremotos han destruido las paredes año tras año, sin embargo, aún podemos ver sus diseños en murales en el PAlacio Tshudi, la única de las diez ciudadelas que sobrevivió.

Chan Chan #1

Today I visited Chan Chan, many years later, it was an interesting visit. :)

Chan Chan was the capital of the Chimu kingdom, it's the largest Pre-Columbian city in South America, this archaeological site located to 5 Km west of Trujillo. The walls themselves were constructed of adobe brick, and were then covered with a smooth surface into which intricate designs were carved. You can only visit one of ten walled citadels which composed this magic city.

Hoy fui a Chan Chan muchos años después, fue una interesante visita :)

Chan Chan fue la capital del reino Chimú, es la ciudad precolombina más grande de Latinoamérica, este sitio arqueológico está a 5Km al oeste de la ciudad de Trujillo. Las paredes, en su totalidad, están construidas de adobe que luego fuera recubierto con ligeras capas de barro formando diversas tramas y diseños. Sólo puedes visitar uno de las diez ciudadelas que componen esta mágica ciudad.

Making a caballito

I was walking in a street of Huanchaco and I suddenly, I saw this man, a traditional fisherman, making his "caballito de totora", that was amazing!

Estuve caminando por una de las calles de Huanchaco y de repente vi a este hombre, un pescador tradicional, haciendo su "caballito de totora", fue muy emocionante!.

little aquarium

A detail of a little aquarium which is in a pet shop, the colors of the fishes are very nice, all of them are very small, children like to observe them for a long time.

Theme day: "street light"

I think "Theme day" is special for me :o) ...one of my favorite things about my city is the street lamps (located in Historic Center of Trujillo ). I like to imagine when people get fire in these lamps, now light bulb is the most common everywhere.

Creo que el tema de hoy es especial para mí :o)... una de las cosas favoritas acerca de mi ciudad son los faroles de las calles (ubicadas en el Centro Histórico de Trujillo). Me encanta imaginar cuando antiguamente los encendian con fuego, algo tan común en aquellos tiempos como lo es ahora con las bombillas de luz.
