The army paraded in a ceremony of the new year for the Peruvian Army in Trujillo. Sometimes, it's frightening to see so many weapons together :S

Lamps on tree

I saw a nice detail on a Christmas Tree, my favorite theme: lamps :)

Main Square Trujillo is the place of the " Christmas Lights Festival", some local enterprises participate with an original tree. I'll show you some of these trees on the next post.

Faith walking

On 15th December, many devotees of the "Virgin from the door" (Virgen de la Puerta) visit the city of Otuzco by the feasts of the Virgin Mary, some of them prefer to walk 75 km as a sign of devotion.

When I went back to Trujillo, I found some of these pilgrims on the road.

Cada 15 de diciembre, muchos devotos de la Virgen de la Puerta, visitan la ciudad de Otuzco por las fiestas de la Virgen María, algunos prefieren caminar 75 Km como muestra de devoción.

De regreso a Trujillo, encontré a algunos de estos peregrinos en el camino.

Toys with moche design

I visited to artisans in wood from Magdalena de Cao, they made toys with design moche, a simple way to show the historic and old people from that place.

Visité a algunos artesanos en madera de Magdalena de Cao, quienes han hecho juguetes con diseños moche, esta es una simple manera de mostrar a los antiguos e históricos habitantes de ese lugar.

a touch of blue

At Trujillo downtown you can see similar old houses, some of them rent a part of the house and the new tenants paint only their part... this no so good, but is a curious note from downtown.

I was walking at Trujillo downtown and I saw the Cathedral of a different way, behind a metal net.

Little town

This is a model of old Trujillo, surrounded by walls with four portals of entry, two of them still exist, including one keeps trees that give their welcome.

Esta es una maqueta del Trujillo antiguo, rodeado de parede, con cuatro portales de ingreso, dos de ellos aún existen, uno de los cuales aùn mantiene a sus arboles que dan la bienvenida.

Black Flag

I saw these black flags today, it was very strange to see those flags on the stores, I guess this is related to the closure of this street for the cars, it will be a walking street and some stores aren't agree with the measure.

Hoy encontré estas banderas negras en el centro de la ciudad, fue muy extraño ver esas banderas sobre las tiendas, supongo que esto está relacionado con el cierre de esta calle para los autos, ahora será peatonal y algunas tiendas no estan de acuerdo con la medida.

The best Juice... for me :)

If you come to Trujillo, you have to taste this juice (it's called "surtido"), it is prepared with many fresh fruits. This place is traditional, my dad used to come here when he was an student... :)

Si visitas Trujillo, tienes que probar este jugo (le llaman "surtido"), está preparado con varias frutas frescas. Este lugar es tradicional, mi papá solía venir aquí cuando era estudiante... :)

Crabs!

" Cangrejo reventado", something like "Crab Busted"... a very popular dish in Trujillo. Crab is no so easy to eat but in this case, crab is previously destroyed, then it's mixed with a stew of potatoes, garlic, onions, egg and seaweed. Do you like taste it? :)

"Cangrejo Reventado" es un plato muy ípico de Trujillo, el cangrejo es previamente destrozado, luego es mezclado con guiso de papas, ajo, cebolla, huevo y algas. ¿Les gustaría probarlo? :)

Some historic details remain on the doors of some old colonial houses from the city center. On the day these door knockers can pass unnoticed, but can they become mysterious when you find their details over the night.

Algunos detalles de historia quedan aún en las puertas de algunas casonas antiguas del centro de la ciudad. En el dia estas aldabas pueden pasar desapercibidas, pero pueden volverse misteriosas al buscar sus detalles por la noche.

Ritual Fishing

Today, Huanchaco participated in the Muchik Party with the Ritual Fishing, about 50 fishermen danced with their "caballito de totora" , then they go to the sea to celebrate their work. Our "Marinera norteña" was listened to for everybody too. Hoy Huanchaco participó en la Fiesta Muchik con el Ritual de Pesca, alrededor de 50 pescadoress artesanales danzaron con su caballito de totora y luego se lanzaron al mar para festejar su faena. La marinera norteña infaltable también!.

Lonely walk

If you go to Huanchaco beach, you'll always find this man and his horse. Spring is still cold but they work at the beach during all the year, he is a photographer. People visit this beach all the time, so he always will have clients.

Si visitas la playa de Huanchaco, siempre encontrarás a este señor y su caballo. La primavera aún está fría pero ambos trabajan en la playa durante todo el año, él es fotógrafo. Mucha gente visita la playe todo el tiempo, así que él siempre tendrá clientes.

Sometimes, time for playing is gone... but sometimes we're like a child for minutes during the day ;)

Strawberries

Today was the Strawberry Festival in Menocucho (45 min from Trujillo), this fruit was sold directly by farmers from this town.
Hoy fue el Festival de Fresas en Menocucho (a 45 min deTrujillo), esta fruta fue vendida directamente por los productores de este pueblo.
